triathlonclinics

Do you want to stand at the start of a triathlon with even more confidence? DTS offers transition clinics for beginners eager to learn the basic techniques of a triathlon, to seasoned veterans looking to improve those last few percentage points for an even faster time. The trainers at Training Tweaks have the knowledge and experience to ensure you are well prepared.

On this page, you will find the most important information about the DTS transition clinics. These fun triathlon clinics are available exclusively as an extra service for DTS participants. During registration for our races, you will have the option to choose one of the four clinic dates. Are you already registered for a race and would still like to sign up for a clinic? Then use the link in your confirmation email, click on 'edit registration', add the clinic of your choice, and complete the payment.

DTS exchange clinic (€35: 2 hours)

During the DTS transition clinics, you will go through the transitions from swimming to cycling and from cycling to running with the trainer. You will practice various skills that help you achieve a smooth transition. Are you curious to know what these skills are?

  • Switching general
  • Putting on and taking off a wetsuit
  • Speed laces

On the Thursday before the races, you will practice the transition technique at the race location. The physical exertion remains low so that you stand fresh at the start of your triathlon.

What will this clinic give you?

In this clinic, you will learn to go through transitions safely, according to the rules, and lightning fast. That is why the clinic has proven popular with both beginner and experienced triathletes in recent years. In just one transition clinic, a less experienced transitioner can easily shave a minute off their finish time. Now that is efficient training!

In addition to my work in the physiotherapy program at the HvA, I have been active in the sport of triathlon since 2021. I guide athletes through individual coaching and group training. For instance, I have been giving clinics for DTS since 2022 and am a triathlon trainer at the De Dolfijn club in Amsterdam.

Personally, as an athlete, I am active in team competition, and the long distance appeals to me. With my long-distance debut in 2023, I immediately got to go to the famous Kona (Hawaii) for the Ironman World Championship. That was a wonderful experience! I enjoy both the short and long distances in the sport of triathlon.

I caught the triathlon bug thanks to Wouter, and I enjoy the fast formats in the sport. I find the shorter the better. My greatest strength therefore lies in transitioning quickly in T1 and T2. If things go reasonably well (and there isn't too much running to be done in the transition zone), I can transition faster than Wouter. I love passing these skills on to other athletes. I do this at the triathlon training sessions of Training Tweaks and at the transition clinics of DTS.
